Some of the publications are of the wonderful live that was had by the Polish inhabitants within the regions and portray the daily life as it was there and then. There are however some books that also portray the terrible hardship suffered by the Polish population in the hands of the Local nationalist bands as well as the German and Soviet occupiers during the timeframe of the Second World War.
I can highly recommend the books by R. Wiernik who was born in Zdolbunow, Wolyn and writes with humour and passion about his experiences.
