This is the type of history that the Ukrainian subscribers to a number of genealogical lists are trying to hide and have so far without success tried to deface this site. This has not been placed here to get even or to promote as they call it Polish history but to show all what they the Ukrainians that are currently living in Ukraine, UK, and Canada among other countries are trying to hide and are pretending that it didn't happen. That in my opinion is unforgivable. I have left this in it's original language to make sure that the credibility remains and so that I don't get accused of spreading Polish propaganda. I have however included a English translation, I do categorically promise that I haven't included anything that isn't on the original text, the translation is as close as I can possibly translate it.

16 April 1944, Retreating Ukrainian unit of 14th Volunteer Division SS-Galizien perpetrated a massacre of Polish populace, Research indicates that the action was agreed with the local command of OUN and UPA. Attackers burnt houses and the remaining farm buildings, they threw in grenades to the houses and basements, the escaping they shot. Elderly, Women and children were thrown in alive into the burning buildings or they weren't allowed to escape from them. Almost half of the Polish houses were burned. The remaining Church and farm buildings in the outskirts of the village survived, only as the local Ukrainians lived near by. With this method the majority of the inhabitants were burned to death. The majority of buildings by streets Dremewce, Dluga, Mazurowce, Odetrokej, Tarnopolskiej were destroyed.

Monument to the memory of murdered inhabitants of Luszowian build by the local Soviet committee towards the end of the 1980's. According to the last information from 1991 the letters on the tablet were scratched off by the local Banderowcy and the said monument destroyed. The monument was supposedly renewed next year but without the inscription

6th of April 1944, head of the Ukrainian village Worochota, a Ukrainian Piotr Pszystupa signed the judgment enabling Ukrainian units from the sign of Banderowcy UPA for the slaughter of the village’s Polish inhabitants. That day in the afternoon they fell upon the village armed groups of people , who catching in their houses, in their yards and on the streets the Polish population, arrested them and showed them into two houses by which guards were posted and they were kept there until the evening.
In the evening Banderowcy took all that were detained to the local farm to a place where they buried dead animals. There were made ready two large pits. The people that were bought there were lined up by the pits, children and elderly were separated and according to height. After the end of the selection the murderers began the shootings. Some were killed with batons or bayonets and were showed into the pits. In this case there were a number of only badly wounded. After the massacre the grave was covered with a thin layer of earth.
The witnesses of this told that the next day they could see the earth still moving. They couldn’t do anything for the living. They had to escape to save their lives. That evening there were either killed or buried 37 persons between the ages of 1 to 82 years.
In 1945 in the presence of military doctors and a priest named Kani from Belz both of the graves were opened, but the state of the bodies didn’t allow for exhumation and moving them to the local cemetery. Both graves remained in the border zone on the Ukrainian side by the Border Post No 747, few meters from the land that was tended by the inhabitants of Machnowek village.
