The District area was 35.754 sq. km, the total population according to the census of 1931 was 2.085.600 people. The average population density per sq. km. was 58 persons per 1 sq. km.. The overall majority of populace was Rusin(Ukrainian) with a total of 1.418.300, divided into (town) 40.6000 and (village) 1.377.700 persons, this compromised 68.0% of the total population. The Polish populace numbered 346.600 divided into (town) 69.500 and (village) 277.100 persons, this compromised 16.6% of the total population. The remainder were Jews and other national groups and made up the remaining 9.9% of the population.
